Tamara and Jacob’s engagement session felt like a double date! My husband, Abe, normally only joins me to shoot weddings, but he got to be there for this session, and it was so much fun! Tamara and Jacob have had many dates throughout their relationship at breweries, so we started at Westlake Brewing Co. in Deep Ellum. I had met them through FaceTime since they live in Houston, but at the brewery we got to hang out for a while and hear a little more of their story before moving on to White Rock Lake.
Tamara and Jacob have known each other for years. In fact, Jacob asked Tamara out several years ago, and she said no. No explanation, it just wasn’t the right time so she didn’t want to. Most guys would take the rejection and be super awkward, but Jacob never was. They remained friends and when the time was right, their friendship turned into something more. Tamara said that Jacob felt like home– they could always relax and be themselves with each other. When they were dating, at some point they made a date jar filled with pieces of paper with date ideas written on them. Since they love being outside, one weekend, they made their way to Austin to hike some awesome trails with great views. He pulled out their date jar and said, “Let’s pick one.” He had replaced all the options with “Get Married”, so it was on that hike that they got engaged!
Tamara & Jacob, I am so excited for your spring wedding! Enjoy these days of being engaged because they fly by!
Special thanks to Westlake Brewing Co. for letting us use their space! Any Brewery with beers like “Y’all Star” and “Golden Hour” has to be a winner. If you’re in Dallas, check them out!
