“When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible.” -fromĀ When Harry Met Sally
Okay, I have a confession: I’ve never seen When Harry Met Sally. (Is it something I’m missing out on?? If so, someone’s gotta tell me!) However, any hopeless romantic can relate to this quote. It has never rang more true than for Melanie and Will. Once they decided they were going to spend the rest of their lives together, they just couldn’t wait any longer! Between Melanie being a teacher and Will being a medical resident, they don’t have too much free time. So when they finally had a calm Saturday morning, they went to the courthouse and tied the knot, just the two of them.
I got to hear about their love story at their engagement session (er– newlywed session?), and fast-forward a month later- I had the honor of capturing their wedding celebration!
We started at hot and sunny Hermann Park for some bride and groom portraits. I walked about 30 seconds away from my car, and it started POURING. Um, what? I took shelter under a tree with big leafs nearby, and just laughed at the fact that I had a perfect view of my car, but couldn’t get to it without getting even more wet. Luckily, the rain broke up, Melanie and Will were able to stay dry, and we made it to a gorgeous place for photos!
Y’all, I’m from Texas and used to the heat, but theĀ humidity in Houston (no less, when it is raining off and on) is something else. I can tell Melanie and Will are perfect for each other because a little rain and 100% humidity couldn’t ruin their big day. The sun was coming and going so fast that I can’t tell you how many times we had to turn back and forth to get the better light. Not to mention that they were in a wedding dress and suit in that heat! But one thing I love about photography is a photo’s ability to capture the good. I don’t look at these photos and think of the fact that we were hot and sweaty, I just see theĀ joy these two have to have found their forever with each other.
Melanie and Will, I had so much fun celebrating your marriage with your closest friends and family. Y’all treated me like a guest (which is SO kind, especially when I get to eat at Le Colonial!), and it was truly my pleasure to be able to capture this piece of your life! I’m so happy for you, Mr. and Mrs. Liu!
